The short version
- Lehen is for personal practice of marasiya, madeh and nauha.
- Subscriptions are billed by the App Store or Google Play and renew until you cancel there.
- Library pieces are for practice in the app only. Please don’t download or republish them.
- Only add recordings you have the right to use. You keep ownership of them.
- Scores are a practice guide, not a judgement of anyone’s recitation.
Agreeing to these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and MyBohra (“we”, “us”), the maker of Lehen. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Lehen.
Who can use Lehen
Anyone can use Lehen. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms and to our privacy policy on your behalf. The app asks for this when you sign up. Parents are responsible for how their child uses Lehen.
Your account
You sign in with a phone number you control. Keep your phone and one-time codes to yourself, because anyone with them can open your account. One person, one account: please don’t create extra accounts to get more free pieces or more free trials. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
Your gender and age group are set once when you sign up. If either is wrong, write to us and we’ll correct it.
Free and paid plans
Free
The free plan lets you keep up to 3 pieces active at a time, with the gold line, coaching, scores and your last take. You can swap which pieces are active once every 7 days.
Paid plans
- Billing. Paid plans are sold as auto-renewing subscriptions through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and those stores’ terms apply. The price and billing period are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency.
- Renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
- Free trial. Where a free trial is offered, it is available once per store account. If you don’t cancel before it ends, your subscription starts and you are charged. We remind you 2 days before.
- Cancelling. Cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play account. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. We can’t issue refunds for store purchases ourselves.
- Price changes. If we change a price, the store will tell you in advance. Where the law or the store requires it, you’ll be asked to agree first.
When a paid plan ends
Nothing is deleted. You choose 3 pieces to keep active on the free plan, and the rest are locked, with their takes, until you subscribe again. Older takes are hidden on the free plan, not removed.
The library
Recordings in the Lehen library come from MyBohra and the reciters and rights holders who allow us to use them. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to listen to and practise with them inside the app.
You may not download, copy, record, republish, sell or share library recordings outside the app, except through the app’s own Share feature. If you see a piece with the wrong audio or title, or one you think shouldn’t be there, tap Report in the piece menu.
Recordings you add
You can add your own audio files, up to 15 minutes and 25 MB each. You must own them or have permission to use them, such as a voice note your ustaad sent you to learn from. You confirm this each time you add a recording.
You keep ownership of everything you add. You allow us to store and process it only so we can run the app for you, for example to draw its tune and keep it on your devices. We don’t share your recordings or use them for anything else.
If someone tells us a recording breaks their rights, we may remove it. If you believe your work was added to Lehen without permission, write to us with the details and we will act within 3 working days.
Using Lehen respectfully
Lehen is built around sacred recitations. When you use it, please don’t:
- Upload or share anything mocking, hateful, sexual or illegal, or anything disrespectful of the recitations or the community.
- Use Lehen to harass, impersonate or harm anyone.
- Get around plan limits or trials, including by using several accounts or changing the app’s data.
- Copy, reverse-engineer, scrape or overload the app or its servers, or use bots.
- Fake practice activity, for example by playing a recording into the microphone to build a streak.
If you break these rules, we may remove content, pause features or close your account. Where we can, we’ll tell you why first.
Scores and coaching
Lehen compares your pitch with the recording’s melody to help you practise. Scores, stars and coaching are a guide to matching that recording. They aren’t a measure of anyone’s skill, sincerity or worth as a reciter. Results depend on your microphone, headphones and the room, and can be wrong.
Our app and brand
The Lehen app, its design, the gold line, illustrations, animations and the Lehen and MyBohra names and logos belong to MyBohra. These terms don’t give you any right to use them beyond using the app.
If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them to improve Lehen without owing you anything.
Ending your account
You can stop using Lehen at any time and delete your account in the app: You → Delete account. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel a store subscription, so cancel that in your store account too.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, or stop offering Lehen with reasonable notice. If we stop offering Lehen while you have a paid subscription, you can ask the store for a refund under its policies.
Warranties and liability
We work hard to keep Lehen running well, but we provide it “as is”. We can’t promise it will always be available, error-free, or right for every voice or device.
As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Lehen in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be waived.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Before going to court, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue together. If we can’t, the courts of [city], India have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere, you may also have the right to bring a claim in your own country’s courts.
Changes
We may update these terms as Lehen changes. If a change matters, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Lehen after that means you accept the new terms.
