Lehen by MyBohra
For marasiya, madeh and nauha

Find your voice in every tune.

Lehen draws the tune as a gold line. You sing along, your voice appears in white, and plain words tell you when to come up or down.

How it works

Three steps, and you’re singing.

No music theory, no settings to learn. If you can hum along to a recording, you can practise with Lehen.

Lehen Home screen with a short madeh ready to practise and a Start practising button.

Pick a piece

Choose from the MyBohra library or add your own recording. Your first piece is ready the moment you sign in.

Practice screen in landscape: a gold melody line with the singer's white trail and an On pitch chip.

Sing along to the gold line

Your voice appears as a white trail. When you drift, a chip says which way to go: a little high, come down.

Result screen with four stars, the words So close to perfect, and a player to hear your take.

Hear it back, then go again

Listen to your take, see how close you were, and practise again.

What’s inside

Everything a zakir needs before the majlis.

Each tool exists for one reason: to help you learn a tune well enough to recite it with confidence.

See where you drifted last time

Your previous take sits faintly under the tune: green where you were close, dotted coral where you went way off. You can see a tricky phrase coming before you reach it.

Practice screen showing last take in green and coral under the gold line, with a tooltip: Way off here, 0:09 to 0:10, went too low.

Coaching in plain words

No cents, no note names. Just what to do next.

Repeat a part

Drag two gold handles over the line that keeps tripping you up, and loop it until it sits right. Tap a coral mark to jump straight to that phrase.

Practice screen with one phrase shaded and a banner: Repeating 0:09 to 0:10 until you stop.

Small wins you can see

Hit a note you missed last time and Lehen tells you, right then. It’s the moment that makes people practise one more time.

Practice screen with a green chip: Fixed it! Better than last time.

Headphones or not

Practise with earphones, or on the speaker in a quiet room. A 3-second room check tells you if it’s too noisy, and Bluetooth delay is measured and corrected.

In your range

Two short “Aaaa”s find your comfortable range. Every piece then shows whether it sits in your range or high for you.

Your own recordings

Have a voice note from your ustaad? Add it as an MP3, M4A or WAV and practise it exactly like a library piece.

Listen to what you just sang

Every take ends with a player, the way you’d replay a voice note from your ustaad. Hear the long note that wobbled, then go again. Kind words come with every score: a first try is “A brave start”, never a failure.

12days of riyaz
in a row
Daily riyaz

Light your lantern every day.

Riyaz is what musicians call daily practice. Sing for three minutes and today’s lantern is lit. Keep it going and your voice settles, one evening at a time.

  • Only real singing counts. Lehen counts minutes you were actually singing, not minutes the app was open.
  • One reminder a day, at your time. Never more than one, and only if you haven’t practised yet.
  • Miss a day? Light a new lantern tomorrow. No guilt trips.

Made with care

Built for recitations, not for a game show.

Marasiya and nauha are mourning. Lehen helps you prepare them well and stays quiet where quiet is right.

No stars on nauha or marasiya

You get a calm “Well practised” and one line on what drifted. Share cards for them never show a score.

Quiet in Muharram

During the first ten days of Muharram there are no sparkles or celebrations. Your progress is still saved.

Nobody is ranked by their voice

Lehen rewards practice and improvement. Your recitation is never scored against anyone else’s.

Safe for young learners

Under 18? A parent agrees once, recordings stay on the phone, and your name is never shown to others.

Nauha result screen: Well practised, with no stars, and a player for the take. Onboarding step asking How old are you, with 18 or older selected.

Questions

Good to know.

Do I need headphones?

No. Headphones give the cleanest result, but you can practise on the phone’s speaker in a quiet room with the volume low. Lehen checks the room for 3 seconds before you start and tells you if it’s too noisy. Bluetooth earphones work too; Lehen measures their delay and corrects for it.

Which pieces can I practise?

Marasiya, madeh and nauha from the MyBohra library, plus any recording you add yourself, such as a voice note from your ustaad. Recordings can be up to 15 minutes long.

Is my voice recorded or shared?

Your pitch is worked out on your phone while you sing. Recordings of your takes are saved on your phone so you can listen back. We keep your scores and the shape of each take’s pitch line (not the audio) so your progress moves with you to a new phone. Nothing is shared unless you tap Share. The privacy policy has the details.

Can children use Lehen?

Yes, with a parent’s agreement. When someone under 18 signs up, a parent confirms once in the app. Their recordings stay on the phone and their name is never shown to anyone else.

Do I need my ITS number?

No. You sign in with your phone number and a 6-digit code. No password to remember.

How do I cancel a subscription?

In your App Store or Google Play account, under Subscriptions. If you cancel during the free trial, you won’t be charged. Lehen reminds you 2 days before a trial ends.
