The short version

  • Your pitch is worked out on your phone. We don’t stream your singing to our servers.
  • Recordings of your takes stay on your phone. We store your scores and each take’s pitch line, which is a list of notes over time, not audio.
  • We never sell your data and there are no ads.
  • Under 18? A parent agrees once, recordings never leave the phone, and your name is never shown to others.
  • You can delete your account any time in the app: You → Delete account.

Who we are

Lehen is a practice app for marasiya, madeh and nauha, made by MyBohra (“we”, “us”). We decide how your personal data is used, which makes us responsible for it under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other privacy laws that apply where you live.

Your voice

When you practise, the app listens through your microphone and works out your pitch on the phone itself. That live audio is not sent to us.

After each take, the app saves a recording on your phone so you can hear it back. It replaces the previous one unless your plan keeps every take. Those recordings stay on your phone unless you choose to share one, for example on WhatsApp.

What reaches our servers is the result: your score and the take’s pitch line. A pitch line can’t be turned back into your voice.

The microphone is used only while a practice, room check or range test is running. You can turn microphone access off at any time in your phone’s settings.

How we use it

  • To run the app: sign you in, show the tune, score your takes and keep your pieces and progress in sync.
  • To send the one daily reminder you asked for, and messages about your account or subscription, such as a trial ending in 2 days.
  • To keep Lehen safe: stop abuse such as fake accounts and repeated free trials, and enforce plan limits.
  • To improve Lehen, using usage and crash data.
  • To meet legal obligations, such as tax records for purchases.

We rely on your consent, which you give when you sign up and when you allow the microphone and notifications. You can withdraw consent at any time by turning off a permission or deleting your account. Some uses, such as security and legal records, rely on our legitimate need or legal duty.

We don’t use your data for advertising, we don’t sell it, and we don’t use your recordings to train AI models.

Who we share it with

We share data only with companies that help us run Lehen. They may use it only to provide their service to us:

  • Supabase: sign-in, database and private file storage.
  • Cloudflare: delivery of library audio files.
  • Our SMS provider: sends your one-time sign-in code.
  • RevenueCat, Apple and Google: subscriptions and purchase receipts.
  • Our crash-reporting provider: error logs that help us fix bugs.

When you tap Share, the image or audio goes to the app you choose, under that app’s own privacy policy. We may also disclose data if the law requires it, to protect someone’s safety, or as part of a merger or transfer of the app, in which case this policy continues to apply.

How long we keep it

  • Account, progress and recordings you added: while your account is open. They are deleted within 30 days of you deleting your account.
  • Usage and crash data: up to 18 months.
  • Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, usually 8 years in India.
  • Backups: deleted data leaves our backups within 35 days.

If your paid plan ends, nothing is deleted. Pieces beyond your free 3 are locked and wait for you.

Young learners

Lehen asks every new user whether they are 18 or older. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must read a short note in the app and agree before you continue. For under-18 accounts:

  • Takes and recordings you add stay on the phone and are never uploaded.
  • Your name is never shown to other users.
  • We don’t track you for advertising, and we don’t build behavioural profiles.

A parent can ask us to see or delete their child’s data at any time using the contact details below. If we learn that a child signed up without a parent’s agreement, we will delete the account.

Your choices and rights

  • See and correct your data. Your name and photo can be changed in Edit profile. For gender or age, write to us.
  • Delete everything. You → Delete account removes your account and data, as described in How long we keep it.
  • Get a copy. Email us and we’ll send your data in a common format within 30 days.
  • Withdraw consent. Turn off the microphone or notifications in your phone’s settings, or delete your account.
  • Complain. Contact our grievance officer (below). In India you can also approach the Data Protection Board of India. In the UK or EU, you can contact your local data protection authority.

Deleting the app does not delete your account. Use Delete account in the app, or email us.

Security

Data travels over encrypted connections, and our database is encrypted at rest. Access is limited to the people who need it to run Lehen. Your account is protected by one-time codes, not passwords. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects you, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

Where data is stored

Our providers may store and process data outside your country, including in India, the European Union and the United States. Where the law requires it, we use contracts that keep your data protected to the same standard.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top always shows the latest version.
